Gauss 2D – S-Parameters & Frequency-Dependent Properties

S-Parameters

Gauss 2D allows you to view, plot, and export to Touchstone® frequency-dependent S-Parameters for simulated Single Ended and Differential Striplines and Microstrips. For Single Ended transmission lines, you can work with 2 Port S-Parameters, and for Differential transmission lines, you can work with either 4 Port S-Parameters or Mixed-Mode S-Parameters. Gauss 2D allows you to study these S-Parameters in either Magnitude/Angle, Magnitude (dB)/Angle, or Real/Imaginary, with either the Causal Debye Infinite Pole Model for dielectric property extrapolation, or a tabular input of Discrete Dk/DF values at different frequencies.

Frequency-Dependent Properties

Gauss 2D also allows you to view, plot, and export to Excel® frequency-dependent Impedance, Loss, Dielectric Properties, and RLGC parameters for simulated Single Ended and Differential Striplines and Microstrips. For Differential transmission lines, these properties, when applicable, can be studied for both Even and Odd modes. Some frequency-dependent properties will have more than one output for each mode, such as Dk, which is given both as Effective, reflecting the material property, and Apparent, reflecting the output observed by the circuitry, as can be seen in the image on the right.
